Tetra Tech has managed the Australia Awards scholarship program across multiple countries throughout the Asia Pacific region, providing education opportunities to postgraduate Indonesian scholars who are passionate about improving conditions across the country.
Situation
Since the Colombo Plan was developed in the 1950s, the Australian Government has contributed to global development and prosperity by providing educational and professional development opportunities.
Education plays a key role in reducing poverty and improving economic growth. With this in mind, the Australia Awards were developed to forge future generations of global leaders to drive future development in their country.
The prestigious scholarships seek to promote knowledge, education links and lasting ties between Australia and the global community.
Solution
Tetra Tech manages the Australia Awards in Cambodia, Indonesia, Fiji, Laos, Nauru, the Philippines, Vanuatu and Vietnam on behalf of the Australian Government.
We work closely with partner governments to address country-specific development problems, ensuring that awardees’ studies directly impact and address the needs of each country. Recent priority areas have included education, rural development, trade and investment, and gender studies.
Each recipient is expected to develop a plan for how they will use their Australian education to improve the lives of people in their country when they return home.
The Australia Awards application process is open and transparent. All eligible people are encouraged to apply, including women and people with disabilities.
Result
Tetra Tech manages nine Australia Awards programs across Asia and the Pacific. We work with partner governments and agencies, universities and institutions, applicants and alumni to deliver these successful programs on behalf of the Australian Government
Our expertise is best demonstrated by our Scholarship Effectiveness Group. Here, all Tetra Tech-managed Australia Awards programs come together to share information, discuss lessons learnt and work co-operatively to ensure that we deliver the best possible development outcomes.
Tetra Tech is proud to be involved in this program, empowering the next generation of global leaders.
